From the winery:
2017 Browne Family Vineyards Cabernet Franc
TASTING NOTE: “Savory and earthy aromas of cedar and forest floor lead to flavors of French roast coffee, anise and cherry compote. Bold tannins are beautifully integrated with the French oak leaving a finish of licorice, sage brush and baking chocolate. The integrated tannins and full body in this wine pair well with roasted poultry or pungent cheeses.”
-John Freeman, WinemakerVINTAGE NOTE: After warmer and larger than average harvests from 2012-2016, this year’s growing season and harvest were far more normal. A wet spring led to a dry, warm summer, allowing for excellent fruit development in our vineyards. By harvest, our fruit showed phenolic ripeness with ideal balance between balance between sugar, acids, and tannin in the fruit skins. The fruit harvested will make for a fine 2017 vintage from Washington.

And now on to our review:
The 2017 Browne Family Vineyards Cabernet Franc begins with a wonderful aroma, especially once it has a little air. Black cherry, blackberry, dried herbs, a little vanilla, mint, licorice, spice and even some minerality all combine harmoniously to make for a very attractive start.
The wine is also drinking wonderfully. It’s quite fresh and delicious with its age giving it depth and harmony. Featuring similar flavors to nose, the wine also has juicy fruit plus touches of earth and minerality. There are lots of layers to enjoy in this one.
It ends dry, fresh, juicy, a bit grippy and quite long and was just as good on day. This is an excellent example of Cabernet Franc. We love it and put it at the high end of our 9 Taste Rating.
Next we have the 2018 Browne Family Vineyards Tribute Red Blend. You will receive one bottle in today’s 3-pack.
From the winery:
2018 Browne Family Vineyards Tribute Red Blend
TASTING NOTE: “Fruit bomb with cherries and plums dominant, the wine is full of allspice and fresh dark fruit flavors. Acid is bright and clean which makes the fruit burst and with medium to heavy bodied tannins this is a red wine drinkers wine. Lingering flavors of leather and oak on the finish. It’s very versatile but will pair best with braised or grilled red meats or fatty fish like salmon.”
-John Freeman, WinemakerVINTAGE NOTE: 2018 represents a very long harvest and a record-breaker for volume and tons crushed. Dryer weather at bloom, resulted in grapes with much less mildew pressure than last year. Two weeks of extremely hot weather towards the end of summer allowed fruit to hang a little longer. The levels of acid are coming in higher than in years past, so red varietals, like Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, will be bright and refreshing.

And now on to our review:
The 2018 Browne Family Vineyard Tribute Red Blend opens with a very pleasing aroma of dark fruit with plenty of spice on the nose plus attractive touches of cola and vanilla. It develops even more as it has time in the glass. This is quite a nice start!
Taking a sip reveals a rather elegant wine where the oak has integrated with age and the tannins have smoothed out nicely. Beautifully balanced, this is a delicious blend with a silky smooth mouthfeel.
It ends with a dry, long, grippy and savory finish and was just as good on day 2. This is fantastic, I love it. We put it at the high end of our 9 Taste Rating.

From the winery:
2017 Browne Family Vineyards Merlot
TASTING NOTE: “Aromas of vanilla and toasted oak lead to flavors of pine nuts, molasses and plum. Medium bodied with silky soft and integrated tannins, this wine finishes with a mix of savory forest flavors of dark chocolate and all spice. This wine is elegant and approachable and will pair well with fatty meats like prime rib with rosemary or leg of lamb with mint jelly.”

And now on to our review:
The 2017 Browne Family Vineyards Merlot opens with a pleasing, deep aroma of blackberry, cola, spice, chocolate, balsa wood, herbs and lots of other little touches. It’s a great start.
Tasting the wine reveals it to be silky smooth with good structure and similar flavors to the nose plus well-integrated spice and some hints of coffee. Balanced and delicious, this is drinking very well at 8 years of age.
It ends dry, juicy, grippy and almost a bit chalky on the very long finish. It was just as good on day 2. This is very nice! We put it at the high end of our 9 Taste Rating.
Cheers,
Jon
