For whatever reason, we’ve been seeing a number of California GSM blends as of late that add Petite Sirah into the mix. It’s a lovely addition.
Of course, Petite Sirah originated in the Rhone Valley so it makes sense in that regard, but it’s rarely grown there today. California has become its new home and as such it seems a very fitting addition to the GSM blends made there.
The 2012 Longevity Wines Debruvee begins with a fantastic aroma of black cherry, blackberry and violets along with excellent spice notes, vanilla and licorice.
30 months in French oak does a wine good! This is a juicy, smooth, absolutely delicious wine with bright fruit and plenty of beautifully interwoven spice. Vanilla, chocolate, cola, licorice and even some mineral notes round this one out.
It ends with a dry, lip-puckering finish of incredibly long-lasting tart fruit and spice. This is a delight to drink and at only 96 cases produced, definitely splurge-worthy!
