Weekly Wrap-Up: New Top 10 Reds, Links To Find Recommended Wines and More (September 30, 2012)

    Welcome to this week's wrap-up!

This week revealed some excellent new recommended wines along with an updated Top 10 Red list, but before we get to that this week also marked the start of a new feature here on the site: going forward each review will also include a link to find that day's wine at a local retailer. Look for this info right before each wine's rating:

Over the next few weeks I'll also be going back and adding this info to all the old reviews on the site, as well as adding an additional link directly to online retailers for many of the wines. I hope you'll find this additional info helpful!

Now onto to our weekly recap. On Monday we started the week with a Merlot, but not just any Merlot, the 2010 Gen5 Merlot, which we dubbed "More Than Your Typical Merlot".

On Tuesday we reviewed the variety of wine that put Marlborough, New Zealand on the map, Sauvignon Blanc. 2011 Stoneleigh Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc - Lovely.

Wednesday brought a BULK BUY on a wine we've found to be consistently good vintage to vintage, the 2010 Bodega Colomé Amalaya - Smooth, Sophisticated and Sultry.

On Thursday we covered a variety that doesn't get the props it deserves, in my opinion -- Albarino. And we went right to one of the most renowned sources, Rias Baixas, Spain: 2010 Bodegas Fillaboa Albarino Rias Baixas - Albarino Is Good Vino!

Friday brought the big reveal of our latest Top 10 Red Wines Under $20 list! This update has 7 new wines so be sure to check it out!

Finally we ended the week by going back to Marlborough, New Zealand -- not for Sauvignon Blanc this time, but for an absolutely beautiful Pinot Noir. At only a few dollars outside our normal $20 limit, this is a wine you definitely need to seek out. 2010 Goldwater Wairau Valley Marlborough Pinot Noir - Pinot Noir Perfection.
