A Perfect Stocking Stuffer For Winelovers!

Welcome to the weekly wrap-up!

With November upon us and the holidays rapidly approaching, now is the time to start thinking about Christmas gifts for the winelover. To help in that endeavor over the next few weeks I’ll be highlighting some great gift ideas in these weekly wrap-up posts. This week, in addition to our Saturday Splurge wine yesterday, I have a great stocking stuffer for the winelover who loves to read:

The Curious World of Wine: Facts, Legends, and Lore About the Drink We Love So Much by Richard Vine is an entertaining and engaging look into the world of wine. In the author’s own words:

This book tells about some of the colorful characters, celebrated places, and quirky events that make such wine stories a fascinating topic. Some of the tales are amusing, others are a tad serious, and still others, a bit naughty…My vision was to put together a small selection of some lesser-known wine stories, told in a light and engaging tone, that I hoped everyone would enjoy — not just wine buffs.

Mission accomplished, I say! I highly recommend this one. Releases this Tuesday, 11/6 with a list price of $20. Buy it on Amazon for $13.32.

First up this week, on Monday we asked whether Beaujolais should be considered the poor man’s Pinot Noir, or something more. 2011 Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais-Villages – A Strawberry-Banana Jam-a-rama!

On Tuesday we unleashed our newest Top 10 list, this time covering White, Rosé and even a dessert wine. There were 7 new wines on this update, so be sure to check it out! Top 10 White Wines Under $20 – The Reverse Wine Snob October/November 2012 Edition.

On Wednesday we traveled to Napa Valley to uncover a sub $20 Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah blend that we throughly enjoyed, the 2010 Fuse Wine Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon – Napa Valley Taste Without The Napa Valley Cost.

Thursday brought the next wine in our Awesome Austrians series, Blaufrankisch! This beauty from Burgenland offers a great introduction into Austrian red wines: 2010 IBY Blaufrankisch Classic– Awesome Austrians Wine #3.

Friday brought another amazing value from Spain in the form of a Garnacha from Calatayud. I’m consistently impressed with the sub $10 Garnacha and Tempranillo available from all over Spain and it’s the reason why these wines dominate our Top 10 Reds Under $20 list! Las Rocas Garnacha 2009 – Garnacha Love.

Finally on Saturday we splurged on a great gift wine. With limited production, the Napa Valley designation and excellent taste this Cabernet is perfect for the wine snobs on your Christmas list!2008 Mira Winery Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon – Give Them What They Want.
