The 2022 Specially Selected Chianti Riserva opens with pleasing aroma of bright red fruit along with black cherry plus touches of leather, herbs and sweet spices. It’s a nice start.
Tasting the wine reveals good, juicy acidity plus good structure and similar flavors to the nose. Compared to the 2021 vintage of this wine we previously reviewed, the 2022 is a little better right out of the bottle and doesn’t need as much time to breathe. It also offers better depth. This is a very easy drinker especially for just $8.
It ends dry, long, tart and a bit grippy on the finish and was similar on day 2. This should pair nicely with Italian foods.
This is a nice vintage of this wine! We give it an 8 Taste Rating that combined with the very low price bumps it up to a Bulk Buy Overall Rating.
