Smooth and balanced, we review the Banshee Sonoma County Pinot Noir found at Costco.
100% Pinot Noir from vineyards in Los Carneros, Petaluma Gap, Sonoma Coast and Sonoma Valley sub-appellations of Sonoma County, California. The wine was aged for 8 months in 25% new French oak (Cavin, Rousseau, Remond, Francois Freres, D&J, Marsannay and Tremeaux) barrels.
This wine has an SRP of $25 but we found it at Costco for $15.99. (Find out how to check if your Costco store has it in stock from the comfort of your home here.)
From the winery:
An exciting, yet friendly wine, bursting at the seams with aromas of dried cherry, earthy peat moss and Redwood forest with notes of hyacinth, sandalwood and confectioners sugar. The flavors combine to create a fruit-driven front palate and very subtle oak influence. The finish is bright, with a nice pop of acidity and flavors of tart raspberry and bramble to create great weight for an excellent food wine, as well as a charming drinking experience by itself.

The 2021 Banshee Sonoma County Pinot Noir opens with a very aromatic and pleasing bouquet of red and black cherry, a little cedar and a touch of cranberry and forest floor. It’s a nice start.
Tasting the wine reveals it to be smooth and easy to drink with good balance, bright acidity and similar flavors to the nose. This is a very good example of Pinot Noir with just a touch of earthiness to it.
It ends dry and long on the juicy, mouth-watering finish and was similar on day 2.
Cheers,
Jon
