In fact, Beau Vigne (Bo-Veenya) has had a long line of impressive winemakers, beginning with founding winemaker Dave Phinney and followed by another 100-point winemaker Kirk Venge. For the last 5 years or so, the renowned Julien Fayard has crafted the wines, and what wines they are.
On offer today is the 2022 Beau Vigne Heritage Cabernet Sauvignon from the North Coast of California. Spending 16 months in 100% French oak, the wine also has small amounts of Malbec (5%) and Merlot (5%).
Decanter gives this 2022 a 93-point score while Tasting Panel scores it at 92-points. We agree with both, giving it a 9 Taste Rating (91-93 points). With lots of layers, great depth, a soft and smooth mouthfeel and just a touch of residual sugar, it very much brought to mind a Caymus Cab or even a wine like The Prisoner.

We are world renown and recognized by wine critics as a winery that produces exceptional, intense, balanced, rich and multidimensional wines.
TASTING NOTES: Inspired by the great Cabernets of Napa Valley, our Heritage North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon is a stunner. It showcases bold, dark fruit flavors of blackberry and cassis, harmoniously balanced with subtle oak nuances. A well-structured body, with firm tannins and a lingering finish make it a timeless representation of the classic California Cabernet.
VINTAGE DESCRIPTION: In 2022, all of the North Coast (Napa Valley, Sonoma, Mendocino) growers harvested some red varieties as early as mid-August. The Labor Day heat wave caused multiple varieties to reach maturity simultaneously in some regions, which kept vineyard and cellar crews busy through a compressed harvest. Despite the year’s twists and turns, consumers can expect to enjoy excellent wines from the 2022 vintage.

The 2022 Beau Vigne Heritage North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon opens with pleasing aromas of black cherry and other ripe dark berry fruit plus cedar, licorice, vanilla, baking spice and some other oaky notes. This is a fun one with even more coming out as you swirl like a touch of black olive, tobacco and cigar box.
The medium-bodied wine tastes super soft and smooth in the mouth and has really good depth on the juicy fruit. With good structure and a touch of residual sugar (to our taste), Caymus lovers should be all over this one. It gets better with air too, with the other touches from the nose also presenting when tasting.
It ends dry, juicy, quite long and just a bit grippy and was similar on day 2.
