The 2016 Cantina Tollo Mo Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva begins with an harmonious aroma of black cherry, licorice, spice, cedar, vanilla and a touch of a balsamic note.
Taking a sip reveals dark fruit with nice touches of spice and other flavors similar to the nose. Smooth and easy to drink and with good balance, this is a pleasing, solid wine. It paired quite well with my wife’s sausage, tomato and spinach risotto.
It ends with a dry, long and a bit grippy finish.
