A new way to check for specific wines at your local Costco without even having to visit! We are delighted to announce that Costco has recently updated their app to allow you to search the full inventory of your local stores.
Well, this is a game changer!
It’s a scenario we’ve experienced way too many times. You hear about a wine in-store at Costco that you’d really love to try so you take a special trip to get it, only to find that your local store doesn’t have it. And maybe, if you really want to try the wine, you take a trip to another store slightly farther away just to see if they have it, only to strike out again.
It’s incredibly frustrating and we feel your pain! Thankfully, it appears that Costco is finally rectifying the situation.
As everyone knows, Costco inventory for all items (not just wine) can vary by location and especially by region. In the past the only way to see what is in your local store was to physically travel there and check it out or try to call the store and ask (which can be hit or miss). But, of course, for some wines that sell out quickly, that can mean constant trips just to make sure you get it while it is available (if it ever is).
Now Costco has updated their mobile app to include a warehouse button at the bottom:
Clicking that brings up a page for your local warehouse with a search function:
We tried searching for “Malbec” and the results not only show you the matching items, but if they are in stock, the price and it also quite helpfully shows you if stock is low.
Clicking on the “Find Nearby” for low stock items also brings up Costco store inventory at other local stores!
This new Costco Store Inventory feature is limited to the app only, we we couldn’t find it on their website as of yet. There also does not seem to be a way to see all inventory in a specific category (like wine) so if you’re not looking for a specific wine you can use some general search terms to get results as well, like searching for “Kirkland Signature”, “wine” or “Cabernet”:
We have yet to find one term that will bring up ALL the wines available so you’ll have to try different combinations if you aren’t looking for something specific. We highly recommend using our Costco or Kirkland Signature lists to find specific wines to search for.

We’re not sure how often the inventory is updated, but when you search or click on an item it shows a “Valid at” timestamp that at least for us was always the current time. This seems to imply it may actually be real-time!
There are reports that this new feature has not been rolled out to all users as of yet (and the warehouse section has a “Beta” label when you open it up), so if you don’t see it on your app, be patient, Costco Store Inventory should be on the way to you too.
