Of course, with just 159 cases produced, this is an expensive wine, normally retailing for $38 a bottle. Comprised of 40% Syrah, 36% Mourvedre and 24% Grenache, it is aged for 18 months in a combination of new and once used French (80%) and American (20%) oak.
The Grenache and Syrah are both estate grown while the Mourvedre comes from Karmere Vineyards in Amador County.
This wine is the definition of savory, either on its own, or with all types of different foods. It went particularly well with our dinner of pork tenderloin and roasted acorn squash. I’m salivating just thinking about it.

The 2018 Frog’s Tooth GSM begins with a really enticing, very savory aroma of black cherry, blackberry, blueberry and lots of varied succulent spice notes with touches of earth, balsamic, dried fruit and dried figs. It’s truly excellent!
The excellence continues when tasting where all those touches from the nose, including the balsamic, continue and join with rich, juicy fruit and a smooth and soft mouthfeel.
Lots of really well done spice develops on the mid-palate and leads into the dry, juicy, spicy, very long and savory finish full of lovely, lingering flavors.
This one just keeps getting better the longer it is open and was just as good on day 2. It also goes great with all kinds of different foods.
