The first wine in today’s 4-pack (you will receive 2 bottles) is a beautiful example of Grenache from estate vineyards in the Sierra Foothills. Aged 18 months in French oak (10% new), we love this harmonious, juicy and complex expression of the variety.
The second wine in today’s 4-pack (you will receive 2 bottles) is a delightfully savory blend of Grenache, Barbera and Sangiovese with a little Syrah and Petite Sirah. It is also from estate vineyards, with the exception of the Sangiovese which comes from Matagrano Vineyards in El Dorado county, and aged in oak (25% new) for 18 months. Dry, tart, juicy and deep, this is delicious.

Sierra Foothills. Estate Grown and Bottled Grenache planted in 2003.
Tasting Notes: Classic strawberry and dried sage. Medium bodied with complex notes of figs, cherry, and chocolate.
Aged in French Oak 18 months (10% new).

And now on to our review:
The 2021 Frog’s Tooth Grenache pours rather light red in the glass, just as you would expect for this variety. Full of strawberry, spice, mint and some dried herbs and almost garrigue like notes, it’s a very harmonious and attractive aroma.
The medium-bodied wine tastes juicy and delicious and features similar flavors to the nose. This is a great expression of Grenache that is easy to drink, yet also has good complexity. It gets even better with air too.
It ends dry, long, juicy and a bit grippy with some lasting spicy fruit and was just as good on day 2. This is good stuff!

Serendipity – Finding something beautiful without looking for it.
A blend of Grenache, Barbara, Sangiovese with a kiss of Syrah and Petite Sirah from the Sierra Foothills.
Tasting Notes: A beautiful mosaic of our vineyards. This quintessential winemaker’s blend is fruit forward showing off black raspberry from Grenache, red plum and thyme from Sangiovese, and sour cherries from Barbera. Medium bodied with softly rounded tannins.
Aged in oak (25% new) for 18 months.

And now on to our review:
The 2021 Frog’s Tooth Serendipity red blend opens with a very pleasing aroma full of dark berry Sweet Tart like fruit with well integrated spice, cedar, leather and a strong, savory, balsamic note. It’s a great start.
Taking a sip reveals this to be wonderfully savory stuff. It features a very smooth mouthfeel, good depth and tons of tart, juicy fruit flavors similar to the nose.
It ends dry, juicy, a bit grippy and very long and lingering on the finish. If you like your wines dry but yet tarty and juicy, this is the wine for you. It was just as good on day 2.
