ABOUT GALERNA GARNACHA: Galerna is the wind that runs through the North coast of Spain. Like blooming flowers this wind usually arrives in in the spring. Just like the Galerna, this fresh and fruity wine will sweep you off your feet!
The Garnacha grapes thrives in hot and windy climates such as Punctum’s. Anyone who loves fruit and spice will be delighted with this Galerna.
TASTING NOTES: An intense cherry red color and a violet shaded rim at first sight. Red berries with cherry notes on the nose. Soft tannins and a long finish on the palate.
SOIL: In the province of Cuenca near central Spain, our vineyard is located in an area where wine culture has been around for decades. It sits in an altitude of 800 meters above sea level. The continental mediterranean climate of this territory brings plenty of sunlight to the vineyard, and the clay soil retains water, essential for the health of the vines.
WINEMAKING: By winemaker Ruth Fernández. Half bleeded before fermenting. Clarified with Bentonite. Physical filtration. Cold stabilization. No animal product used.
MADE WITH ORGANIC GRAPES: Organically Farmed. Organic vines planted in 2005. No chemical pesticides or herbicides used. No GMO Yeast Used. Less than 100ppm Sulfites.
13.5% Alcohol
The 2024 Galerna Garnacha from Punctum Biodynamic Family Vineyards opens with a strong, pleasing aroma of black cherry and other red berries, potpourri, wintergreen and more.
Taking a sip reveals a smooth, medium-bodied wine with decent depth and a bit of tannic grip. Featuring similar flavors to the nose, it is quite easy to drink. A crowd-pleaser, this definitely over-delivers for the price.
It ends dry and a bit grippy and juicy on the medium length finish. It was similar on day 2.
