A favorite of our bold red wine lovers, the 2020 Petite Sirah captures the bold character of Dry Creek Valley. It brims with concentrated flavors of black cherry, ripe plum, and black raspberry. Its rich, full-bodied profile is balanced by smooth, integrated tannins, creating a plush mouthfeel that’s both elegant and powerful. Aging in 100% French oak imparts subtle vanilla and spice on a gorgeous, lingering finish.

And now on to our review:

The 2020 Martorana Family Winery Dry Creek Valley Petite Sirah opens with a pleasing aroma of black cherry, blackberry, a little cedar, spice, licorice and vanilla plus touches of cigar box and more. It’s a great start.

Tasting reveals a really smooth wine with a substantial mouthfeel and similar flavors to the nose. This is a delicious example of Petite Sirah with a ton of depth. It’s big and a bit chewy but also balanced and is just a pleasure to drink.

It ends dry and long and was somehow even a bit more cohesive and smoother on day 2.

The 2021 vintage, a low-yield but high-quality year, produced a slightly lighter-bodied Petite Sirah. This elegant wine showcases dark cherry, concentrated blueberry, and plum, with earthy hints of leather and herbs. Firm yet approachable and refined tannins complement its balanced acidity, while French oak aging imparts subtle layers of vanilla and baking spices.

Winemaker Notes:
Weather — a dry winter and spring stressed the vines which limited yields and concentrated flavors. Cooler fall led to later harvest date.

The 2021 Martorana Family Winery Dry Creek Valley Petite Sirah smells very similar to the 2020 with pleasing aromas of black cherry, blackberry, a little cedar, spice, licorice and vanilla plus touches of cigar box and more.

It tastes equally delicious to the 2020 with a bit more spice and licorice. It is also perhaps a bit bigger. Still chewy and balanced, this is absolutely delicious.

It ends dry and long and was even a bit better on day 2 where it was even smoother and more balanced. This is an excellent pair of wines!
