Up first, let’s take a look at the 2020 Gard Vintners Kvasir Mourvedre. You will receive one bottle in today’s 3-pack.
From the winery:
Pronounced vah-SEER
Tasting notes: Blueberry compote, dried sage, white pepper, candied cherry, and black olives. Swirling brings plum syrup, tangerine peel, strawberry purée, menthol, and hints of potpourri and spearmint. Medium to full-bodied, the mouthfeel has crazy good texture and freshness. Blue fruits, flowers, and herbs all dance in the mid palate, but perfect levels of tannin and acidity are framed all together in a very sophisticated manner. There’s a dusty minerality here that is typical from this vineyard site. Spicy and almost crunchy, the wine finishes extremely long, with a touch of oak spice and savoriness. Beautiful now, you can enjoy this fantastic Royal Slope Mourvèdre in the next 12 years.
Production notes: This wine is sustainably produced vegan and glyphosate free.
Other notes: The poet Kvasir was the wisest of all men in Norse mythology and is said to have been created from fermented berry juice. He was tragically slain and his essence mixed with honey to become the “Mead of Poetry,” which fills the drinker with wisdom and poetic prowess. May our estate-grown Mourvèdre blend imbue you with the same gifts. Skål!

And now on to our review:
The 2020 Gard Kvasir Mourvèdre opens with a harmonious, savory and aromatic nose of black cherry, beautiful sage notes, plum, strawberry and white pepper too. A little cola, tobacco, cigar box, mint and much more come out with more time in the glass. There’s a ton going on here, it’s a great start!
Tasting the wine reveals it to be smooth and lively with a nice roundness to the mouthfeel. It’s full of juicy dark fruit and tons of wonderful spice plus other secondary notes that are similar to the nose throughout. It’s not as deep and dark as some examples of Mourvedre, but it’s still delicious.
It ends dry, juicy and very, very long on the savory, lingering finish. I love it! It was just as good on day 2.

Tasting notes: Plums, mocha, black cherry, and hints of violets. The 2020 Vaucluse has a dense core of black fruit and smoke flavors, surrounded by floral and spicy notes. The mouthfeel is youthful, with fine tannins and lifted acidity. There is a sweet and savory component in the background that makes the wine almost crunchy. This beautiful Rhone blend finishes long with a touch of oak spice and can be enjoyed now or in the next 8 years.
About the name: Inspired by the Vaucluse department in the south of France, this Rhone blend is harvested from the fertile soils of our estate vineyard near Royal City in the Columbia Valley. Our Vaucluse is a reflection of the finest wines of the namesake region, located due east of France’s Gard department. Within the Vaucluse lies Mondragon, a small village bearing the surname of our esteemed vineyard manager, Isidro Mondragon.

The 2020 Gard Vaucluse opens with a very pleasing aroma of plum, blackberry, spice, lots of dried herbs, a bit of a violet floral note and even more as it has time to breathe. It’s a great start.
Tasting the wine reveals it to be smooth and almost a bit crunchy in texture, with good acidity and great balance. Featuring similar flavors to the nose, this is really delightful to drink. And it keeps getting even better the longer it is open.
It ends dry, very long, juicy and savory. This is extremely good stuff! It gains a bit of grippiness on day 2 were it was maybe even a bit better.
And finally we’ve got the 2020 Gard Vintners Reverence Grenache. You will receive one bottle in today’s 3-pack.

Tasting notes: Remarkably sweet and spicy on the nose, the wine begins with candied cherry, macerated strawberry, sandalwood, and vanilla. Swirling brings red plums, red licorice, nutmeg, and orange peel. Beautifully rounded and luxurious, the mouthfeel is broad and full-bodied. Sexy and hedonistic, tons of brambly red and black fruits and oak spice hit you immediately after one sip. Remarkably layered, with fantastic structure and length, the wine keeps evolving in the glass to darker flavors, but without losing any tension and energy. A classic from Gård, you can enjoy this amazing Grenache-based wine now or in the next 15 years.
Production notes: All of the Grenache was fermented in concrete while the Syrah was fermented in stainless steel. A small amount of whole cluster was used(5-10%) and the wine was aged in a combination of 500L and 600L barrels of which only 25% was new. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
This wine is sustainably produced vegan and glyphosate free.

The 2020 Gard Reverence Grenache opens with a harmonious aroma of cherry, strawberry, lovely spice and herbs, a little licorice, balsa wood, mint and vanilla and a touch of smoked meat. It’s a wonderful start!
Wowzer! This is a big, deep and delicious Grenache and we love it! With a silky smooth and dynamic mouthfeel and layers of flavors, this is a pleasure to drink. Big, rich and juicy throughout and with just a bit of a tannic edge, we can’t get enough of this one. Just give it plenty of time to breathe if you open it soon.
It ends dry, juicy, spicy and very, very long. It even has a touch of mineral note and was somehow even better on day 2.
