Insider Deals Summer Hold Information

Don’t want your wine shipped over the summer? Here’s how our SUMMER HOLD option works!

Insider Deals Summer Hold Information

While we ship our Insider Deals all year around, taking appropriate precautions in the summer, we know that some people would prefer to be able to have their summer orders held and shipped when temperatures cool down. In the summer of 2024 we introduced that option and we’re delighted to bring it back for 2025!

Our annual Summer Hold option (at no extra charge) begins each year around June (deals will note if it is available). This is NOT a ship-at-will program — all Summer Hold orders will ship at a date of our choosing in mid-October (not in styrofoam), once temperatures have cooled down.

Please continue reading for all the important details and to decide if this program is right for you:

  • As detailed in each deal, there will be two separate Skus for each offer – one of those will be designated as “SUMMER HOLD”. Please make sure you are ordering the appropriate item.
  • There is no additional cost for the Summer Hold option. When the wine ships in October it will go UPS ground and will not ship in heat protection/styrofoam.
  • Your Summer Hold orders will be held in our partner’s temperature controlled warehouse, protecting it from the heat.
  • Once your Summer Hold order is placed you will be charged for your order and we cannot change or cancel these orders. The reason for this is that as each deal ends, all the wine for the deal comes in from the winery and all orders (whether summer hold or not) will be boxed and labeled. The Summer Hold orders will then be wrapped on a pallet and stored for future shipping.
  • We are unable to switch between Summer Hold and Summer Ship/Ship Now versions of the deal after your order, so please be certain which you want to order!
  • Multiple Summer Hold purchases in the same order will only incur one shipping charge, so feel free to stock up.
  • Multiple summer hold orders placed at different times cannot be combined for shipping, each will ship in its own box.
  • Whatever shipping method (ship to shipping address or ship to UPS Store for pickup) is chosen at checkout will apply when the order is delivered in October.
  • In the event you need to change the shipping address on your order, please reply to your order confirmation email. We will make every attempt to accommodate these changes.
  • As stated above, this is not a ship-at-will program — all Summer Hold orders will ship at a date of our choosing in mid-October, once temperatures have cooled down. (You will be notified of that date in advance and will also receive tracking info once your orders ship.) We are physically unable to ship your wine before that date!

One other note – if you do place a summer hold order, there is a very small chance that you could get an erroneous notification that your shipment has gone out early. Please ignore this.

Due to the volume of orders we are receiving we will be creating shipping labels well in advance of the actual shipments. There is a glitch in the UPS system (not exclusive to us) where some UPS MyChoice members receive shipment notifications when the label is created instead of when UPS actually has the package (which is the normal behavior).

If you do get one of these emails, this will be your tracking info for the October shipment, but your package has NOT gone out. You can verify this by clicking into the tracking details – it will say that the package has not been received by UPS and the status is that the label was created.

We will send another email before the packages actually do go out in mid-October.

Cheers,
Jon
