Powers Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon Box Wine Review

Last Updated on August 8, 2025

While it’s not distinctively Cabernet (which is what we were hoping for), it’s not a bad wine and still worth the low price of admission. We review the non-vintage Powers Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon in a 3 liter box.

Powers Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon Box Wine Review

While the winery doesn’t specify currently, in the past it has been a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 8% Syrah and 3% Cabernet Franc from vineyards across Washington State.

This 3 liter box has an SRP of $29 but a common price is $24.99 which is the equivalent of $6.25 per 750ml bottle. On the surface, that’s a great deal for Washington State Cabernet, but let’s see how it measures up.

From the winery:

In carrying on the traditions that Bill Powers had pioneered in growing some of the finest fruit in the Columbia Valley for over 30 years, Powers Winery has continued to lead the industry in low-impact farming practices while cultivating strong partnerships with other top vineyard sites in the Valley. Powers wines are creatively blended to showcase the amazing diversity, quality, and value of wine from the Columbia Valley. As a symbol of Bill’s indelible mark on Washington State viticulture, you will find his fingerprint and silhouette on every box.

The Powers Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon 3L Box opens with aromas of fleshy red fruit, a little spice and touches of licorice. It’s a nice start but it’s not distinctively Cabernet or Washington State.

The wine tastes smooth with similar flavors to the nose. It’s easy to drink but again it’s not distinctively Cabernet.

It ends dry, with a little lingering spice and some juicy fruit on the long finish. This is actually quite a nice finish that raises the Taste Rating on this one up just enough to recommend it. And like all boxes, it was the same days 2-30.
