A smooth and tasty Super Tuscan, we review the Renieri Invetro Toscana available at Total Wine.
A blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, all organically grown from Tuscany, Italy. The wine is aged in barriques for 12 months.
We’re big fans of Super Tuscans, which is basically the Italian term for red blends that are not produced inside the normal rules and regulations of each region. They vary widely in quality and price but thanks to the lack of rules, they also allow creativity to flourish. Let’s check this one out.
Sample submitted for review. The Renieri Invetro Super Tuscan is available for $14-$19 including at Total Wine. It is imported by Saranty Imports.
From the winery:
Renieri extends over approximately 120 hectares, of which 30 are cultivated with vines. It is located in the southern part of the Montalcino territory, in the lands that face Mount Amiata. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level, and the exposure, nearly 360 degrees, ranges from east to northwest.

And now on to our review:
The 2019 Renieri Invetro Toscana opens with quite a pleasing aroma of black cherry, blackberry, some dried fruit notes, lots of varied spice notes and licorice.
Taking a sip reveals a smooth and tasty wine with lots of spice all the way through the finish and similar flavors to the nose.
A bit on the chewy side, it ends dry, long and grippy. It was similar on day 2.
Cheers,
Jon
