Sainte-Celine Chablis From Trader Joe’s

Last Updated on July 27, 2025

Chardonnay the French way! We review a nicely priced example of Chablis from Burgundy, France, the Sainte-Celine Chablis.

Sainte-Celine Chablis From Trader Joe's

100% Chardonnay from 30-year-old vines in Chablis (northern Burgundy), France.

Drier, fresher and less oaky than what we’re used to in the US, there’s not much Chablis available for under $20 here. That makes this example from Trader Joe’s, priced at just $14.99, quite a value – at least in terms of cost. Let’s check out how it tastes.

This vintage doesn’t specify but previous vintages indicated the wine was made by Domaine Jean-Marc Brocard, a large producer of quality wines in Burgundy. It is imported by Latitude Wines.

From the bottle:

From single vineyard 30 year old vines on Kimmeridgian limestone with indigenous yeast.

Chardonnay 100%

The 2023 Sainte-Celine Chablis opens with aromas of lime and other citrus plus green apple, some honeysuckle and other floral notes and a touch of a graphite/chalky mineral note. It’s a nice start.

Tasting reveals a soft and smooth mouthfeel and juicy fruit that is a bit more tart in the mouth, plus other flavors similar to the nose including the bit of a mineral note. It also has good acidity. This is quite easy to drink and satisfying.

It ends crisp and clean with just a touch of a salty note lingering on the long finish. This is nice complexity at this price.
