A simple and cheap Bota Box clone from Aldi. We review the Tera-Box Pinot Grigio.
100% Pinot Grigio from undisclosed locations. (The wine is labeled as “American” which means it is likely juice from multiple states or that the sourcing is not consistent.)
The Tera-Box Pinot Grigio is available exclusively at Aldi and sells for just $14.99 for the 3 liter box putting the 750ml bottle equivalent at just $3.75.
While Aldi doesn’t disclose who produces this private label wine for them, it is widely suspected to be Bota Box as the production location and branding are very similar. The Bota Box version is available for as low as $15 if you’re savvy, but it is generally a dollar or two more than that so there is a bit of savings here.
From the box:
TERA BOX PINOT GRIGIO
This medium-bodied Pinot Grigio has notes of floral and pineapple on the nose, followed by palate-pleasing bursts of juicy peach and citrus. The finish is clean and refreshing.
Try with grilled sea bass or chicken, and light pasta dishes like a veggie based risotto primavera. Also pairs well with ceviche, or cheeses such as fresh mozzarella and feta.
This take-anywhere box has an inner bag and spout that will keep the wine fresh for up to one month after opening. No corkscrew needed!
This wine is crafted by a family-owned winery who has been growing grapes since 1924. Sustainable farming practices are central to the family’s firmly held belief that they should farm with as few impacts on the environment and land as possible.
12% Alcohol
The non-vintage Tera-Box Pinot Grigio opens with aromas of citrus and a little tropical fruit. It smells a bit sweet but thankfully it’s not so in the mouth. It’s an attractive start, especially at this price.
The wine tastes simple with similar flavors to the nose. It is also really easy to drink, which is pretty much what you want from a box at this price.
It ends crisp, fresh, dry, a bit tangy even a bit lip-smacking. A crowd pleaser, it’s ready-made for a party.
