Smooth and juicy, we review the Trader Joe’s Grand Reserve Russian River Valley Petite Sirah Lot 135.
Petite Sirah from Russian River Valley, Sonoma County, California.
Like all the Trader Joe’s Grand Reserve wines this one is priced at $12.99. Also like most of these wines, there is almost no info on the bottle.
From the bottle:
Lot #135

As the label states, today’s wine is made by Joe Otos and his Otos Wine Company. His company also produces a large number of private label wines, including today’s selection. Let’s check it out.
The 2022 Trader Joe’s Grand Reserve Russian River Valley Petite Sirah Lot 135 opens with quite a varied aroma of dark berry fruit, a little spice, a bit of toasty oak and sweet cocoa and just a touch of a nutty note. It’s an intriguing start.
Tasting the wine reveals it to be smooth and juicy with the berry fruit and spice taking center stage in the mouth. With just enough structure and lots of acidity, this wine should hold up to lots of different foods.
It ends dry, long and even a bit savory on the mouth-watering finish and it was even slightly better on day 2. It won’t blow your socks off or anything, but this does offer decent value for the price.
