Trader Joe's Reserve Puisseguin Saint-Emilion Review

Primarily Merlot from Puisseguin Saint-Emilion in Bordeaux, France.

Available for $9.99, exclusively at Trader Joe’s.

Puisseguin Saint-Emilion is one of the four Saint-Émilion satellites along with Saint-Georges-Saint-Émilion, Montagne-Saint-Émilion and Lussac-Saint-Émilion. It is generally thought to be the highest quality of the four and the wines are primarily Merlot based. Let’s check it out.

Imported by Latitude Wines

14% Alcohol

The 2022 Trader Joe’s Reserve Puisseguin Saint-Emilion Lot #274 opens with aromas of black cherry, lots of leather and a bit of a green vegetable note. It’s a decent start.

The wine needs some air when first tasting but offers similar flavors to the nose with good balance. It’s a bit austere without food but it’s worth the price, especially for Bordeaux lovers.

It ends dry and with good length and was slightly better on day 2.
