Super easy to drink and just 7 bucks at Trader Joe’s, we review The Originals Cab Sauv Cabernet Sauvignon.

96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Merlot and 2% Syrah from Horse Heaven Hills in the Columbia Valley of Washington State. The wine is aged 6-7 months on 60% American and 40% French Oak and has 10.83 g/L of residual sugar.

This deep ruby Cabernet Sauvignon presents aromas of toasty oak and dark fruit with black cherry, plum, and black currant on the palate. Lightly structured tannins lead into a black pepper finish. Pair with Italian Tomato & Burrata Raviolini, Hardwood Smoked Pulled Pork, or a Meatball Calzone.

The 2022 The Originals Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a pleasing aroma full of dark berry fruit with a little baking spice, cedar and black pepper. It’s a good start.

The wine tastes smooth and just slightly sweet, but it carries it really well. Featuring similar flavors to the nose and good depth, this is a fun one. This will definitely be a crowd-pleasing wine which is exactly what you want at this price.

It ends mostly dry, a bit grippy and juicy and the medium-long finish. It was just as good an easy to drink on day 2.
