A highly recommended and highly drinkable Cab from Argentina, we review the Trapiche Broquel Selected Barrels Cabernet Sauvignon.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon from vineyards in Maipú, Luján de Cuyo and the Uco Valley of Argentina. The wine is aged in French oak barrels (20% new, 30% second use and 50% third use) for 15 months.
This wine has an SRP of $16 but is available for as low as $11. It is imported by Links Concepts Company Limited.
Our winemakers chose the best terroirs to craft these outstanding wines. The Broquel ultra premium line is our best expression of fruit concentration. Grapes were handpicked in early April from 30-year-old vineyards. A thorough crafting process that included a long maceration followed by ageing in oak barrels for 14 months, rendered a wine with firm tannins, excellent fruit concentration and a long finish. Uncork now or age for 4-5 years.
Produced & Bottled by Bodegas Trapiche
The 2019 Trapiche Broquel Selected Barrels Cabernet Sauvignon begins with an attractive nose of ripe, dark fruit and spice plus a little chocolate and cedar.
Taking a sip reveals quite a tasty wine featuring juicy ripe dark fruit tinged with spice and some light balsamic notes. Balanced, savory and smooth with fine tannins, this is quite drinkable.
It ends dry, long and savory.
