From the bottle:
Primocolle Villa Cerna derives its name from the first hill that comes into view when approaching the town of Castellina in Chianti. This is an elegant, well-balanced, traditionally-styled single estate Chianti Classico with an illustrious history. It is a perfect match for the famous Florentine T-bone steak, and medium-aged cheeses. Serving temperature 16-18C.
13.5% Alcohol
The 2020 Villa Cerna Primocolle Chianti Classico from Famiglia Cecchi begins with a pleasing aroma of black cherry and a little leather plus touches of baking spice and dried herbs. It’s a good start and it gets even better when tasting.
Taking a sip reveals an eminently drinkable Sangiovese, in fact it’s almost too easy. Smooth yet still a bit rustic, the wine is grippy, juicy and darn good. It feature similar flavors to the nose with the addition of licorice and hint of tobacco on the palate plus good acidity.
It ends dry, long and a bit chewy and was just as good day 2 where the finish gains a bit of lasting spice.
