100% Barbera from Barbera d’Asti, Piedmont, Italy.

SRP of $20 and purchased for $10. Imported by Quintessential Wines.

From the bottle:

“Selected Barbera grapes were chosen to create this superior and elegant wine. Ageing for six months in steel tanks adds class and freshness. Serve with pasta, meat and seasoned cheeses at 16-19C.

13% Alcohol”

The 2011 Luca Bosio Barbera d’Asti is made from 25 year old vines in the vineyards of the Castagnole Lanze and Costigliole d’Asti villages. It begins with pleasant aromas of red berry fruit and a surprising and very nice nutty note. Tasting reveals a silky smooth wine with lots of sweet blackberry fruit. The nutty note from the nose also continues when tasting along with a little bit of spice. It ends with spicy plum notes that last for a long time. This is a nice, basic, tasty Barbera with good acidity that will make a great pizza wine. Highly recommended!
