From the bottle:
STORY: This Pinot Noir is made from berries hand-picked from vines scattered about the lush hills and cool valleys of Sonoma's Russian River. In this blissful landscape dotted with lofty redwoods between which morning fog slithers, precious grapes are collected and brought to the winery where they are fermented and aged for nine months in French and American Oak barrels. This is no ordinary Pinot Noir.
TASTE: Pensively purple in color and alluringly scented with marvelous aromas of juicy black cherry fruit, cocoa and ginger backed by lurking notes of cardamom and violets.
14.6% Alcohol
We're big fans on 90 Plus Cellars here at Reverse Wine Snob, having recommended a number of their wines in the past. Today's selection comes from their Reserve collection and has a source price of $30.
The 2016 90 Plus Cellars Russian River Valley Pinot Noir Lot 75 begins with an aroma that Pinot Noir drinks will instantly recognize and love - classic black cherry, cola and a bit of earth. It's a great way to start this fantastic wine. Taking a sip reveals more tasty black cherry fruit that combines perfectly with spice, licorice, cedar and more. Not only is it smooth and easy to drink but it has plenty of complexity. This is Pinot Noir done right and at a great price. On the long, dry finish the oaky spice lingers and a hint of earthiness returns. Frankly we were a bit blown away by this one, we'd probably consider it as a Saturday Splurge at the source price of $30 so to get it for as low as $16 is quite a deal!
This one easily grabs a spot on our giant list the best Pinot Noir under $20.
