Sweet, sparkly and very tasty, we review the Grande Alberone Sparkling Moscato from Aldi.
Sparkling wine made from Moscato in Piedmont, Italy. It has 88 g/L of residual sugar.
This wine is available exclusively at Aldi in the USA and retails for $9.99. It is imported by Prestige Beverage Group.
From the winery:
Gold yellow wine. It has a good intensity, a delicate aroma of honey typical of this variety. On the palate, it’s pleasantly sweet, well-balanced and harmonious.
Grapes are crushed, then softly pressed, in order to extract only primary aromas. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature (16/18°C). Later, sugar and selected yeasts are added. Once, the residual sugar level is reached, the second fermentation is stopped by refrigeration.
7% Alcohol
The Grande Alberone Sparkling Moscato opens with a sweet aroma full of honey notes plus a little citrus and tropical fruit.
The wine tastes super sweet but thanks to the good acidity and plenty of fine bubbles, it’s not cloying. You’ll also find lots of honeyed citrus and tropical fruit.
It ends sweet yet crisp with good length. Pair it with dessert or just have it for dessert!
The fancy sparkly label and the toothache inducing amount of residual sugar definitely had us worried that we’d be tasting some cloying, sugary slop, but this was actually pretty nice – in small doses!
