The 2022 Specially Selected Willamette Valley Pinot Noir from Aldi begins with pleasing aromas of strawberry, cherry and a touch of cranberry plus a little licorice, forest floor, tomato plant and some other earthy notes. It’s a nice start.
The wine tastes juicy, smooth and round in the mouth and and is very drinkable. And while it doesn’t feature a a lot of depth or complexity, it is put together pretty well. It also has all the same touches from the nose when tasting so at this price this is definitely a respectable rendition of Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. It’s nice to see the alcohol under 13% too.
It ends dry, smooth and with good length on the satisfying finish and it was even a bit better on day 2. This is crowd-pleasing Pinot.
