Amalaya Brut Nature – Invigorating Bubbles

By: Jon Thorsen Published: June 17, 2019 Last Updated: May 23, 2021

This refreshing blend of Riesling and Torrontés is a great find for the sparkling wine crowd, the Amalaya Brut Nature.

Amalaya Brut Nature – Invigorating Bubbles

80% Riesling and 20% Torrontés sparkling wine from vineyards at 1,800 meters above sea level in Valle de Cafayete, Calchaqui Valley, Salta, Argentina. The wine is made using the Charmat Method with the secondary fermentation that produces the bubbles happening in large tanks (like Prosecco) and has 6 g/L of residual sugar.

Sample submitted for review. The Amalaya Brut Nature has an SRP of $12 and is available for as low as $10. Imported by The Hess Collection Winery.

    From the bottle:

Delicate and elegant, generous and dynamic. Amalaya Brut Nature is a harmonious blend of Riesling and Torrontés. Vineyards are located in the North West of Argentina at 1,800 meters above sea level in Cafayate Valley, Salta Province.

Riesling-Torrontés is the perfect base for this Sparkling of long aromatic persistence and fruity notes. Highly refreshing and expressive in mouth, is ideal to drink it on its own or marriage with cheeses. Seafood, and ceviche or as an aperitif.

    12.5% Alcohol

The non-vintage Amalaya Brut Nature begins with pleasing aromas of citrus, green apple and a bit of tropical fruit. The wine tastes crisp and clean and offers a great change of pace for sparkling wine lovers with its unusual mix of grapes. Just lightly sweet, it has plenty of fine, refreshing bubbles and good acidity to balance things out. The wine ends with lingering green apple along with some nice mineral notes on the crisp, satisfying finish.
