Andrew Murray Vineyards Tous Les Jours Syrah - Another Home Run

By: Jon Thorsen Published: October 26, 2016 Last Updated: May 20, 2021

Andrew Murray Vineyards Tous Les Jours Syrah - Another Home Run
Another winning vintage of a favorite wine, the Andrew Murray Vineyards Tous Les Jours Syrah.

100% Syrah from Santa Ynez, California. Specifically, the wine is sourced from the estate owned Curtis Vineyard (30%) along with the Oak Savanna Vineyard (28%), Great Oaks Vineyard (28%), Alisos Vineyard (9%) and Kingsley Vineyard (5%). The wine is aged for 9 months in 100% French oak.

The Andrew Murray Vineyards Tous Les Jours Syrah has an SRP of $18 and is available for as low as $14. 12,000 cases produced. Sample submitted for review.

    From the winemaker:

The Syrah Tous les Jours is a quintessential Santa Ynez Valley Syrah. It is simultaneously Bold and Balanced, Rich and Smooth, Fruit Forward and Earthy. It is impossibly dark and full-bodied, without ever going over the top. It is heavily inspired by Northern Rhone Syrah (Hermitage) and Australian Shiraz (Barossa Valley). The aromas and flavors are dominated by black cherry, raspberry, white pepper, forest floor and toasty oak. It is absolutely unique and special expression of Syrah. Moreover, it is a style that one can enjoy every day.

    14.5% Alcohol

We've long been fans of Andrew Murray Vineyards and the always affordable Tous Les Jours Syrah in particular, loving several vintages of this wine all the way back to the 2007. We loved them so much that the wine has made multiple appearances on our Top 10 lists and it even had a long run in the #1 spot. And while we've reviewed other AMV wines as well, which we have also adored, it's always been the Tous Les Jours that really falls into our sweet spot being both 100% Syrah and typically available for around $15.

The 2014 Andrew Murray Vineyards Tous Les Jours Syrah begins with succulent blackberry, black cherry and plum aromas that are wonderfully infused with rosemary, mint, pepper, violets and a hint of smoked meat. The wine tastes velvety smooth with most of the flavors from the nose making an appearance along with lots of licorice and some earthy notes. A burst of cola and oak mid-palate resolves into long lasting fruit and pepper notes on the dry finish.

Another home run for the Tous Les Jours and a wine that will likely again find itself again in an upcoming Top 10 list! What is perhaps most encouraging to me is that as production of this wine has increased (12,000 cases in 2014 versus 3,900 cases in 2011 versus only 2,200 cases for the 2009 vintage) the quality has not wavered. This also means that the wine appears to be more widely available now than it has ever been -- a quick look on wine-searcher shows that it can be found at numerous outlets.
