Reviewing a unique and tasty take on Malbec, the Artesano de Argento White Malbec.
100% organically grown and Fairtrade Malbec from Argento’s estate vineyard in Alto Agrelo, Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina.
The grapes are harvested early to maintain high acidity and there is no skin contact during the winemaking, maintaining the pure color of the juice. The wine has just 3.1 g/L of residual sugar and is vegan friendly.
Sample submitted for review. The Artesano White Malbec has an SRP of $15 and is typically available at that price. It is imported by Pacific Highway Wines & Spirits.
From the bottle:
These wines come from our organic vineyards at the foothills of the Andes and they are made respecting traditions, soils and the winemaking as it was made by Artisans.
A wine with aromas of green apple, citrus, white flowers and mineral notes. Great acidity, fresh and vibrant with a slightly sweet sensation.
12.5% Alcohol
The 2022 Artesano de Argento White Malbec opens with pleasing aromas of melon, green apple, tangerine and a touch of tropical fruit.
Tasting the wine reveals it to be smooth, round and fresh with a bright, vibrant acidity. Featuring similar flavors to the nose with juicy fruit in the mouth, I would never guess this is Malbec.
It ends dry and long with a touch of chalkiness. This is quite nice and definitely something you don’t see every day.
