Brothers Miller French Camp Vineyard Old World Blend - Unusually Good

By: Jon Thorsen Published: August 5, 2019 Last Updated: May 26, 2021

An unusual blend from a big name vineyard produces classic Italian flavors in Paso Robles, the Naked Wines Brothers Miller French Camp Vineyard Old World Blend.

Brothers Miller French Camp Vineyard Old World Blend - Unusually Good

Well, this is certainly not your typical California red blend! Primarily Barbera along with a little Lagrein and Valdigue from the French Camp Vineyard in Paso Robles, California.

Sample submitted for review. This post includes affiliate links. The Brothers Miller French Camp Vineyard Old World Blend has an SRP of $35 and is available to NakedWines.com Angels for just $11.99.

    From the bottle:

We are Fifth Generation California farmers. Since 1871, our family has been committed to sharing California's incredible Central Coast wines with the world. Now, with your funding, two brothers can keep the legacy going.

Your wine is the perfect introduction to Paso Robles – it's a remarkable region full of fossilized limestone soils, impeccable weather, and a long line of grape growers like us, ready to introduce its wines to a new generation.

We hope you enjoy this Paso red – a uniquely Californian spin on the rich wines of the old world. It's kicking with ripe plum, raspberry and nutmeg flavors. A real robust blend – with a rustic flair.

    14.3% Alcohol

The 2017 Brothers Miller French Camp Vineyard Old World Blend begins with pleasing aromas of red and black cherry, spice, licorice, violet, lavender and a little vanilla. Taking a sip reveals a smooth and soft wine loaded with juicy sour cherry fruit and other flavors similar to the nose along with a hint of anise. This is a pretty nice example of Barbera from Paso Robles and with plenty of acidity it makes a great wine for Italian fare. It ends dry and quite long.

While we loved this one, it could be a bit of a surprise if you're not expecting all the sour cherry flavors. This is definitely not your typical California red blend, which is a very good thing in our opinion!
