Caliterra Tributo Cabernet Sauvignon – Nicely Done

By: Jon Thorsen Published: January 29, 2021 Last Updated: February 8, 2023

A solid little Cab drinking quite well at 6 years old, the Caliterra Tributo Cabernet Sauvignon from Colchagua Valley, Chile.

Caliterra Tributo Cabernet Sauvignon – Nicely Done

94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Syrah, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot from Colchagua Valley, Chile. The wine was aged for 12 months in oak barrels, 13% of which were new French oak. It has just 1.9 g/L of residual sugar.

Sample submitted for review. The Caliterra Tributo Cabernet Sauvignon has an SRP of $20 and is available for as low as $12. It is imported by Seaview Imports.

    From the bottle:

When you uncork a bottle of Caliterra, you not only find a wine of the highest quality, also embrace a philosophy that is fundamental today in order to guide our world into the future. Nature is our greatest ally for achieving excellence in our wines, and conserving the native flora and fauna is essential because it gives our terroir a unique character. We use aerial photography to ensure that each variety is picked at the perfect level of ripeness. We strive to save energy and maximize resources to reduce our carbon and water footprints, and we work closely with our local community and partners through training programs and developing workplace skills.

All of these details and many others, combined in perfect harmony, make Caliterra a unique and special place for producing wine of exceptional quality.

Produced and Bottled by Vina Caliterra
    14% Alcohol

The 2014 Caliterra Tributo Cabernet Sauvignon begins with quite a pleasing aroma of black cherry, leather, black pepper and a touch of herbaceousness and cigar box.

Taking a sip reveals rich, juicy fruit, soft tannins and touches of spice and cola along with all the other elements from nose. Everything combines quite harmoniously in this crowd-pleasing Cab that features a fair amount of complexity as well. This is pretty nice at this low price.

It ends dry and long. This is a solid little Cab drinking quite well at 6 years old!
