We always love finding a good, inexpensive Cab and so today we’re checking out one from Castle Rock, which should be pretty widely available. Let’s see how it tastes.
From the bottle:
Our Castle Rock Cabernet Sauvignon is produced from grapes grown in carefully selected vineyards in California, where the climate and soil quality provide excellent growing conditions for this classic varietal. This Cabernet Sauvignon is bold, rich, and deep garnet in color with expressive aromas of black currant, ripe cherry, and baking spice. On the palate this wine is intense, luscious and full-bodied with a rich core of dark berry flavors, and hints of vanilla and espresso in its long harmonious finish. It makes an excellent companion to beef, lamb, venison and most cheeses.

The 2022 Castle Rock California Cabernet Sauvignon is a vanilla bomb on the nose! Full of ripe, jammy, berry aromas, it also has loads of vanilla and a little spice. It’s an intriguing start.
Tasting the wine reveals that it has lots of vanilla in the mouth too but it also has some nice depth on the dark berry fruit. Medium-bodied, smooth, easy to drink, and not overly sweet, this is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
Nice touches of spice lead into the dry, decent length finish. It was similar on day 2. For the price this is quite nice.
