The 2020 Comanche Mesa del Sol Syrah opens with a very pleasing aroma of dark fruit, spice, vanilla, a little smoked meat and hints of licorice, cola, black pepper and more. Wow, what a start!
All of those same flavors and accents are amazingly also evident and combine quite harmoniously when tasting this savory Syrah. It’s smooth, a bit meaty and a bit tannic too and it just keeps getting better with air.
It ends long, dry, grippy, juicy and savory with lasting spice and licorice. This is delicious! It was just as good on day 2.
