When we promised you some amazing deals on the best wines Italy has to offer we meant it! And so today we go to the most noble of Italian grapes, Nebbiolo, and the most renowned wine in Piedmont, Barolo.
And these are no ordinary Barolo we are offering here today. Made by the innovative and passionate Enzo Boglietti, today’s mixed pack includes a total of 3 bottles of 2 different highly rated wines.
Today’s 3-pack starts with 2 bottles of the 2018 Enzo Boglietti Barolo Fossati. It received 93 point scores from both Falstaff and Wine Independent but we put it slightly higher at 94. It has an SRP of $77 but we could only find one seller of this vintage in the US and they sell it at $110 a bottle!
The third bottle in today’s 3-pack is the 2017 Enzo Boglietti Barolo Boiolo. It received a 94 point score from Falstaff, which we agree with. It has an SRP of $65. We couldn’t find any other sellers in the US except the importer at the SRP.
If you’re a Barolo or Italian wine lover (of if you just want to see what all the Barolo fuss is about) you don’t want to miss this deal. Be forewarned, however, that quantities are extremely limited so get those orders in quickly if you want to take part.

Up first let’s take a look at the 2018 Enzo Boglietti Barolo Fossati. You will receive two bottles in today’s 3-pack.
From the winery:
Enzo owns most of this remarkable east-facing Cru, which sits just southwest of its more famous neighbor, Brunate, descending down towards Sarmassa. Fossati is easily identifiable when looking up from the valley by the ruins that lay in the center of the vineyard, which were the residence of Enzo’s ancestors for several centuries.
Fossati is an interesting Cru as wines made from this site move into savory/spicy secondary aromas quickly each vintage (as soon as a year post-bottling!) but stay there for decades without falling off. The experience tasting ten and fifteen year old vintages of Fossati with Enzo is a revelatory exercise in proving this point.
Elaboration: Sustainably farmed, hand picked and fermented with native yeast. 70% new French, 30% used French oak barrels for 15 months. Blended and aged in used large French oak casks for an additional 15 months. Soil is light red marl, limestone with large rocky patches. Very hard to work.
Winemaker: Enzo Boglietti
Tasting Notes: Intense bright ruby color with an orange hue. Intense complex bouquet with pungent and sweet spice, red fruit, violet, and dried fruit notes. A classy Barolo with a great balance of fruit and acidity and an intriguing spicy lengthy finish.

The 2018 Enzo Boglietti Barolo Fossati opens with a truly harmonious aroma of red and black fruits with lots of well-integrated and attractive spice plus and some lovely floral notes.
Wow, this tastes really delicious, especially after a couple hours of air. The full-bodied wine features similar flavors to the nose with a bit of dried fruit in the mouth as well. It also has great balance, a smooth and a bit chewy texture and lovely layers of depth and complexity. I especially love the spice notes throughout on this one.
It ends dry, very long, grippy, spicy and chewy. It’s just a baby now, but still delicious and there’s much more development to come. It was just as good on day 2.
And next we have the 2017 Enzo Boglietti Barolo Boiolo. You will receive one bottle in today’s 3-pack.
From the winery:
Fruit comes from La Morra where the soil is silty sub-alkaline clay with very little organic matter. The high concentration of limestone lends great texture and warmth of aroma. Exposure is east to southeast at altitudes ranging from 300-350m.
Aging potential: up to 12-15 years.
Elaboration: Sustainably farmed, harvested by hand and fermented with native yeast. 20 days of fermentation at controlled temperature, plunged and pumped over daily with a further 60 days post fermentation maceration on skins. Matured for 2 years in used barriques.
Winemaker: Enzo Boglietti
Tasting Notes: Bright ruby color, delicate bouquet of dried flowers and yellow stone fruits. The palate is round, extremely well-balanced, and enjoyable. The aftertaste is smooth with finely textured tannins.

The 2017 Enzo Boglietti Barolo Boiolo begins with a lovely, elegant and harmonious aroma of red berries with some beautiful light touches of spice and flowers. It’s a great start and gets even better as it has more air.
Taking a sip reveals a smooth, round, very well balanced and extremely delicious wine. With layers of complexity and fine, chewy tannins throughout, this is a lovely example of Barolo. Again, it gets better as it has more and more air. It goes great with food too, including red meat and has plenty of aging potential.
It ends dry, grippy, juicy and very, very long on the mouth watering and lip puckering finish. It even has some light salty mineral notes underneath the lasting fruit. It’s absolutely lovely and delicious. It was just as good on day 2.
Both of these wines are elegance on steroids if that makes sense! Don’t miss them.
