Cecchi Chianti Classico Storia di Famiglia - Quite Impressive

By: Jon Thorsen Published: July 2, 2021 Last Updated: January 25, 2023

Pairs well with good food and good company, the Cecchi Chianti Classico Storia di Famiglia.

Cecchi Chianti Classico Storia di Famiglia - Quite Impressive

90% Sangiovese and 10% other red varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Colorino from the Chianti Classico appellation in Tuscany, Italy.

Sample submitted for review. The wine has an SRP of $21 and is available for as low as $15-16. It is imported by Terlato Wines International.

    From the bottle:

This wine represents our history and the legacy of Chianti Classico. The taste and elegance of tradition are enclosed in our interpretation.

Chianti Classico is the result of the Cecchi family's commitment to respecting the most distinctive areas of the appellation while producing stunning, contemporary expressions of Chianti Classico's best wine. The nose expresses a profound depth of fruit, and leads into a voluminous and ample palate, which exudes fruit freshness and balance. Serve with roasted meats and aged cheese. Best served at 60F.

    13.5% Alcohol

The 2017 Cecchi Chianti Classico Storia di Famiglia begins with a very inviting aroma of raspberry, ripe red and black cherry, leather and spice.

Tart and juicy berry fruit leads the way when tasting this medium-bodied wine. The leather and spice notes from the nose make an appearance as well. It's not quite as refined as the Riserva but still quite delicious, just be sure to give it plenty of time to open up.

Slightly chewy tannins lead into the dry and very long lasting finish where touches of tobacco and vanilla linger under all the tart fruit. Quite impressive!
