Frescobaldi Castiglioni Chianti - Smooth and Easy To Love

By: Jon Thorsen Published: March 7, 2019 Last Updated: August 15, 2022

The lovably smooth and delicious Marchesi de Frescobaldi Castiglioni Chianti.

Frescobaldi Castiglioni Chianti - Smooth and Easy To Love

A blend of Sangiovese (at least 70%) and Merlot from Tuscany, Italy. The wine is aged for 6 months in stainless steel and another 2 months in bottle before release.

Sample submitted for review. The Frescobaldi Castiglioni Chianti has an SRP of $16 and is available for as low as $12. Imported by Shaw-Ross International Importers.

    From the bottle:

Castiglioni Chianti seduce per le sue note di frutti di bosco e fiori freschi e per l'immediata piacevolezza. Elegante, morbido ed equilibrato e ideale con le carni rosse e bianche e formaggi poco stagionati.

Castiglioni Chianti entices with notes of wild berries and fresh flowers, and is immediately rewarding. Elegant, smooth, it is ideal for both red and white meat dishes as well as for medium-aged cheeses.

    13% Alcohol

Who doesn't love a good Chianti? Perfect with all kinds of food and distinctively Italian, it's one of our favorite wines. Today we've got a great example.

The 2017 Marchesi de Frescobaldi Castiglioni Chianti opens with a very pleasing mix of inviting aromas like red cherry, black cherry, mint, apple, violets and cedar. Tasting reveals one smooth Chianti with a lot of the rough edges you often find smoothed off nicely. Sweet and tart red cherry and berry flavors intermingle pleasantly with spice, dried herbs and touches of apple in this medium-bodied wine. Some licorice and cola notes lead into the long, dry finish. This is a really easy to drink Chianti that you can't help but love!
