Winemaker Notes: Our Carmine is a completely different animal altogether. It is the result of blending multiple varietals and multiple vintages of the numerous red wines that we make. Overall, we believe that substantial barrel aging paired with substantial grape tannin extraction leads to elegant, complex structures that cannot be replicated or faked by oak or any other process. We believe that aged grape tannin builds that je ne sais quoi of complexity that we love.”
Final Blend: Merlot 26.2%, Cabernet Sauvignon 16.1%, Zinfandel 15.5%, Syrah 14.8%, Petite Sirah 14.6%, Grenache 10%, Petite Verdot 1%, Pinot Noir 0.6%, Carignane 0.5%, Cab Franc 0.4%, and Barbera 0.3%

And now on to our review:
The Meeker Vineyard Carmine Watercolor Sonoma County Red Wine opens with an attractive aroma full of dark berry fruit and well-integrated baking spice plus touches of vanilla with lots of secondary touches from a wine with some age on it. It’s a really pleasing and intriguing start.
It only takes one sip to know that this is a wonderful blend. You can definitely taste the age as everything has just melded together wonderfully at this point, yet it still has a nice freshness to it. Extremely harmonious, it features similar flavors to the nose in the mouth.
It ends dry, long, grippy, juicy and savory. It was at its best after a couple hours of air and was similar on day 2.
