Jeff Runquist Petite Sirah - Delectable

100% Petite Sirah from the Salman Vineyard in Clarksburg, California. The wine spends time in 100% French oak and just 2,042 cases were produced.

Sample submitted for review. The wine has an SRP of $28 (Saturday Splurge) and can be found for around $25.

From the bottle:

The Salman Vineyard produces exceptional wine with intense color and deep rich flavors.

15.2% Alcohol

The 2017 Jeff Runquist Petite Sirah begins with a very pleasing aroma of vanilla, caramel and spice plus some dark berry fruit.

Taking a sip reveals blackberry, black currant, tannic goodness with quite a bit of oak influence. Smooth with a substantial mouthfeel, this full-bodied wine has fantastic depth of flavor. This is some absolutely delicious Petite Sirah.

It ends with a wonderful, dry, grippy, long finish. I’ve run out of superlatives to describe this one but needless to say it gets a perfect 10 on our Taste Rating scale. Is this an under-appreciated grape or what?
