A rich and juicy Chardonnay without the buttery bite, we review the balanced and delicious Juggernaut Sonoma Coast Chardonnay.
Chardonnay from the Sonoma Coast of California. The wine is fermented in a combination of 1 & 2 year-old French oak (86%) and stainless steel (14%) with a portion undergoing sur lie aging.
Sample submitted for review. The Juggernaut Chardonnay has an SRP of $16 but is available widely for as low as $12.
From the bottle:
Juggernaut grapes are grown in challenging conditions, where true grit and determination yield spectacular results. Resolute Chardonnay vines persevere, in unpredictable conditions near the ocean, where fog approaches with stealth, depriving vines of sunlight they instinctively crave. The reward is a boldly balanced wine with a small bite of acidity providing the perfect backbone for enduring flavors of green apple, pear and stone fruit. Overcoming hardship builds character.

Produced by the respected Bogle Winery, we enjoyed both the Juggernaut Hillside Cabernet and the Juggernaut Russian River Valley Pinot Noir so today we’re checking out the Chardonnay. Available just about everywhere, it’s always nice to have readily available quality choices like these. Let’s see how this one tastes.
The 2021 Juggernaut Sonoma Coast Chardonnay opens with a pleasing aroma of pear, apple and some other varied citrus notes plus just a little bit of butter and vanilla and a touch of spice. It’s a very nice start.
The wine tastes rich, juicy and again just a bit buttery. Perhaps unexpectedly based on the label image, this is actually quite balanced and delicious. Featuring similar flavors to the nose, I love the smooth, textured mouthfeel.
It ends juicy, tangy, and quite long on the satisfying finish.
