A deliciously sweet and bubbly Bulk Buy, we review the new Kirkland Signature Moscato d'Asti.
New Kirkland Signature wine alert! And this one is for the sweet wine lovers.
The wine is available exclusively at Costco for just $7.99. It is imported by Ethica Wines.
Before we jump into the review on this one, I want to say that I love that Costco has put the nutrition facts for this wine on the back of the bottle. I wish all wines were required to do this but because alcohol is regulated by the TTB, and not the FDA, most wines (those over 7% alcohol) follow different rules that don't require this info.
Unfortunately, as one reader astutely pointed out, the inclusion of the nutrition facts here is due to the fact that this wine is only 5% alcohol, which means it is required to follow the FDA rules. As such it's likely not part of a trend on Kirkland Signature wines, but we can still dream.
And just as you would expect for a Moscato with only 5% alcohol, this is a very sweet wine coming in at 20g of sugar per serving. With 5 servings per bottle, that means there is total of 100g of sugar in the bottle (133 g/L). This is very high, as is expected for this style of wine. For comparison sake, the majority of the red wines we review have 5 g/L or less. Anyway, let's get on to the wine, shall we?

From the bottle:
Kirkland Signature Moscato d'Asti Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita is crafted in the Piedmont countryside in northwestern Italy. With notes of honeysuckle and ripe peach, this beautiful golden white wine makes an excellent aperitif wine as well as a great pairing for both sweet and savory dishes.
5% Alcohol
The 2022 Kirkland Signature Moscato d'Asti opens with lots of sweet, honey-soaked fruit aromas like citrus, peach, and a little tropical fruit.
Taking a sip reveals a very sweet but tasty Moscato. There's a whole lot of sugar in here but plenty of acidity and the crisp, fine bubbles help offset it a bit and prevent it from tasting syrupy sweet. This is very well put together! Downright delicious even.
It ends with a crisp, off-dry, long finish. This is lovely stuff!
