La Vieille Ferme Rosé - Fresh, Easy and Cheap

By: Jon Thorsen Published: July 3, 2020 Last Updated: May 19, 2021

Value never tasted so good, the La Vieille Ferme Rosé widely available in bottle or box.

La Vieille Ferme Rosé - Fresh, Easy and Cheap

A blend of Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah from France. This rosé is produced using the Saignée method where juice from the early stages of red wine fermentation is bled off. The wine is vinified in stainless steel.

Sample submitted for review. La Vieille Ferme Rosé from Famille Perrin has an SRP of $11, but is available for as low as $6. It is also available in a 3L box. Imported by Vineyard Brands.

    From the bottle:

Since 1967, La Vieille Ferme has been producing authentic and delicious wines vintage after vintage, and has been acknowledged as one of the very best value wines in the world. The vines selected are grown high on the slopes , which gives this wine unique freshness and elegance. Pale pink in color, with soft undertones. Fresh and very aromatic nose, this wine has a delicate bouquet with notes of red fruit, flowers, and citrus fruit. Nice balance between sweetness and acidity in the mouth. The finish shows fresh fruit, and great length.

    13% Alcohol

Today we're reviewing the sister wine to the La Ferme Julien Rosé, the Trader Joe's exclusive version with the goat on the label.

The 2019 La Vieille Ferme Rosé begins with an inviting aroma of strawberry, melon and just a hint of tomato plant. Tasting the well-structured wine reveals red berry and cherry fruits with a pleasing tartness. Just lightly sweet and with good acidity, this is a well done, all-around rosé for sipping on its own or pairing with food. It makes a great pick to buy by the box. The wine ends with a bit of salty minerality and lingering tart fruit on the dry, long finish.

This is consistently solid stuff and whether you choose this one or the Trader Joe's version, you really can't go wrong.
