We love Rhone style wines and today we have the return of a fantastic example at an amazing price!
This Dry Creek Valley blend is comprised of Rhone varietals including 50% Carignane from both the Bradford Mountain Estate Vineyard (34%) and the Forchini Vineyard (16%) and 25% Syrah from the Bradford Mountain Estate Vineyard plus 25% Petite Sirah from the Bernier Vineyard.
The wine was aged 25 months in 33% new French oak barrels, 17% new American oak barrels and 50% older, neutral barrels. Bottled (unfined and unfiltered) in December of 2022 and just released in March, with only 150 cases produced it certainly won’t last long!
We love the wines of Peterson Winery (as do many of you based on the success of our past deals) but today we have a very special one that tips its hat to the best of the Rhone. And in that regard, we especially love the fact that this iteration has upped the amount of that wonderful Carignane!
Winemaker Jamie Peterson explains the origins of this wine:
My father first produced Vignobles in the 1990’s as a way to showcase our Petite Sirah and other Rhone varietals in a savory blend that reflects the Dry Creek Valley terroir. And, as a side note, it was one of my favorite wines to sneak tastes of as a teenager.
By blending three varietals from distinctively different Dry Creek Valley vineyards, we are staying true to Fred’s vision of showcasing how our local terroir creates a unique palate profile. With this twelfth vintage since the resurrection of the wine, we’ve built upon the core of spice and zestiness from Carignane harvested off our Bradford Mountain Estate Vineyard and the eastern bench of Forchini Vineyard, and brought in rich, dense Petite Sirah from Bernier Vineyard. Syrah from our estate vineyard adds varied fruits and plushness to bring it all together. This Rhone varietal blend creates layers of fruit, spices and herbs, along with complexity and balance—all hallmarks of wines from the Dry Creek Valley.
Not a subtle wine, but meant to show more finesse and refinement than some of our other blends. We’re glad to have Vignobles back in our cellar, and I no longer have to sneak tastes, but enjoy each sip all the same.

The aromas offer a lovely medley of subtle red fruit laced with traces of kid-glove leather and loamy soil. Bright, balanced flavors begin and finish the wine, revealing ripe strawberry, pomegranate, dark cherry and a hint of rhubarb. Mid-palate, a spicy cedar essence appears, merging with the vibrant dark flavors. The integrated structure and a touch of dried fine herbs with a lavender essence appear in the long finish.
Enjoy this delicious blend with herbs de Provence pork chops, or a classic cassoulet with white beans, sausage and chicken.

The 2020 Peterson Winery Vignobles Red Wine opens with a lovely aroma of plum, spice, black pepper, licorice, mint and a hint of balsamic along with some attractive red fruit. It’s a wonderfully savory and enticing start.
That savory note continues when tasting this lovely, juicy blend. It’s smooth, elegant and balanced with a wonderful vibrancy and great depth of flavor.
Featuring similar flavors to the nose, the spice develops nicely in the mid-palate and touches of coffee leading into the dry, super savory, slightly grippy, extremely long and harmonious finish.
It gets even better after a few hours in the glass (and on day 2). Did I mention this is just lovely and very savory? Don’t miss your chance to get this one. I love it again!
