We love Rhone style wines and today we have the return of a fantastic example, at an even lower deal price (despite the SRP going up)!
This Dry Creek Valley blend is comprised entirely of Rhone varietals including 33% Carignane from the Forchini Vineyard, 33% Grenache from the West Vineyard, 17% Syrah from the Bradford Mountain Estate Vineyard and 17% Petite Sirah from the West Vineyard.
The wine was aged 25 months in 17% new French oak barrels, 17% new American oak barrels and 66% older, neutral barrels. Bottled (unfined and unfiltered) in December of 2021, we were the first to offer this vintage last May and it was received tremendously well. However, with only 150 cases produced it's now almost gone so we're grabbing the remainder while we can. (You don't want to miss this.)
We love the wines of Peterson Winery (as do many of you based on the success of our past deals) but today we have a very special one that tips its hat to the best of the Rhone. And in that regard, we especially love the fact that this iteration includes a good amount of Syrah!
Winemaker Jamie Peterson explains the origins of this wine:
My father first produced Vignobles in the 1990’s as a way to showcase our Petite Sirah and other Rhone varietals in a savory blend that reflects the Dry Creek Valley terroir. And, as a side note, it was one of my favorite wines to sneak tastes of as a teenager.
By blending four varietals from distinctively different Dry Creek Valley vineyards, we are staying true to Fred’s vision of showcasing how our local terroir creates a unique palate profile. With this eleventh vintage since the resurrection of the wine, we’ve built upon the core of spice and zestiness from Carignane harvested off the eastern bench of Forchini Vineyard, and brought in rich, dense Petite Sirah from West Vineyard. Additional Syrah from our estate vineyard, along with Grenache from the West Vineyard, add levels of varied fruits and plushness to bring it all together. This mostly Rhone varietal blend creates layers of fruit, spices and herbs, along with complexity and balance — all hallmarks of wines from the Dry Creek Valley.
Not a subtle wine, but meant to show more finesse and refinement than some of our other blends. We’re glad to have Vignobles back in our cellar, and I no longer have to sneak tastes, but enjoy each sip all the same.

Dark fruit aromatics woven with a distinctive layer of brown spice and toasted oak envelope the nose. With the first sip, vivid acidity showcases the concentrated, plush fruit as it satiates the palate. Rich flavors of boysenberry, dark plum and dried strawberry mingle with an appealing spiciness and hints of dried herbs. The balanced structure and lingering spiciness add to the beauty and appeal of this delicious Rhône blend.
Perfect with a raspberry-chipotle pork tenderloin, and equally as tasty with Greek grilled lamb chops served with a Greek pasta salad.

The 2019 Peterson Winery Vignobles Red Wine opens with a lovely aroma of plum, spice, black pepper and a hint of balsamic along with some attractive red fruit and a bit of meaty note from the Syrah. It's a wonderfully savory and enticing start.
That savory note continues when tasting this lovely, juicy blend. It's smooth, elegant and balanced yet still full of flavor. You can taste that Syrah in the mouth too where the meatiness continues.
Featuring similar flavors to the nose, the spice develops nicely in the mid-palate and touches of coffee leading into the dry, super savory, slightly grippy, extremely long finish.
It gets even better after a few hours in the glass (and on day 2). Did I mention this is just lovely and very savory? Don't miss your chance to get this one. I love it again!
