An excellent example of a Rioja Reserva, we review the Ramon Bilbao Rioja Reserva.
90% Tempranillo, 5% Mazuelo and 5% Graciano from bush vines over 40 years old in Rioja Alta, Spain. The wine is aged in American oak barrels for 20 months, along with some time in the bottle. It has just 3 g/L of residual sugar and is vegan friendly.
Sample submitted for review. The Ramon Bilbao Reserva has an SRP of $27 and can be found for as low as $22. It is imported by Zamora Company.
From the bottle:
Some journeys are made of memory and emotion. Taking time to discover and feel, to live life and enjoy it. Moments that last, and flavours that beg to be shared. Where the journey begins.

Some of those signature Rioja balsamic notes start things off on the 2016 Ramon Bilbao Reserva but they also combine quite nicely with dark fruit and lots of beautiful varied spice notes. It’s a lovely aroma.
The wine tastes just delicious once it has a bit of air. It features a smooth and silky mouthfeel plus great depth and balance. In the mouth you’ll find similar flavors to the nose with juicy fruit and lots of additional secondary touches like licorice, tobacco and chocolate. This one has layers of complexity.
It ends dry, long, savory and delicious and was similar on day 2. Just like the Ramon Bilbao Gran Reserva, we give this one a high 9 on our Taste Rating (92-93 points).
