Dessert in a bottle! A Bulk Buy rating on a lovely, low-alcohol sweet wine, the Rinaldi Moscato d'Asti.
100% Moscato d'Asti from 40 year old vines in the hills (Bricco Cardogno, Celle and Vallarenzo) of Piedmont, Italy. The wine is fermented in steel vats and does not see any time in oak.
Sample submitted for review. The Rinaldi Moscato d'Asti has an SRP of $20 and is available for as low as $14. Imported by Kysela Pere et Fils, LTD.
Straw-yellow color. The bouquet is delicate and intense with aromas of fruit (apple, peach) and spices (sage). The palate is sweet and smooth with lingering aromatic persistence. A refreshing and pleasant wine, perfect for brunch, picnics or poolside.
Pairings: Dessert wine, ideal with hazelnut cake. Original with "strong" cheese such as Robiola of Roccaverano and Gorgonzola.
6% Alcohol
The 2016 Rinaldi Moscato d'Asti opens with sweet and succulent aromas of orange rind, honeysuckle, peach and a little baking spice. Tasting the wine reveals fresh, candied, honeyed and sweet citrus fruit flavors. A sweet, smooth, substantial and lively mouthfeel adds a level of elegance and a touch effervescence and good acidity helps take the edge off all the sweetness. This is dessert in a bottle! It ends with a crisp, sweet and long finish.
Interestingly, this wine used to be named "Bug Juice" (you can still see the bugs on the label). I'm assuming this was because of the sweetness, but this bottle offers a lot more than just some sugar! Plus the low alcohol makes it a refreshing treat almost anytime.
