TerraNoble Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon – A Congenial Cab

Last Updated on January 1, 2023

A harmonious wine from the Colchagua Valley of Chile, we review the TerraNoble Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon.

TerraNoble Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon - A Congenial Cab

Cabernet Sauvignon from the Colchagua Valley in Chile. 70% of the grapes come from the Los Lingues vineyard in the Colchagua Andes while 30% come from the Los Cactus vineyard and have the coastal influence of the “Between the Ranges” (Entre Cordilleras) Marchigue DO. The wine spends 12 months in a combination of French barriques and stainless steel and has 3.6 g/L of residual sugar.

Sample submitted for review. The wine has an SRP of $20 and is available for as low as $13 including at many Costco locations. 150,000 bottles were produced and it is imported by Winebow Imports.

From the bottle:

A complex and balanced wine of great character, with fine aromas of red berries, toast and smoke. Structure and well-balanced body is perceived on the palate, along with smooth and round tannins and elegant notes of cherry and chocolate.

14% Alcohol

The 2018 TerraNoble Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon opens with an attractive aroma of plum, dark berry fruit, leather, dried herbs, baking spice and just a touch of vanilla and pyrazine.

The wine tastes smooth with good structure and features lovely juicy fruit notes similar to the nose plus well-integrated spice. (And while I did get a touch of pyrazine on the nose, it isn’t really noticeable when tasting.) Everything just adds up quite harmoniously on this easy to drink and satisfying wine.

Fine tannins lead into the dry, long, grippy finish. This is a lovely Cabernet!
