Another nice wine from Belhara Estate thanks to Trader Joe’s, we review the 2023 Alma de Uco Grand Assemblage.
This one is made up of one of our favorite blends – Malbec (75%) and Cabernet Franc (25%). It comes from Valle de Uco, Mendoza, Argentina.
We’re big fans of Cabernet Franc from Argentina and when combined with Argentina’s signature varietal of Malbec, the results are often quite delicious. We’re hoping that is the case with today’s wine. Let’s check it out, shall we?
We found this one at Trader Joe’s for just $9.99, which is always a nice price. It is imported by Evaki Inc. It also comes from Belhara who have produced some other nice wines including the Belhara Estate Malbec at Trader Joe’s and the Specially Selected Uco Valley Malbec at Aldi.

The 2023 Alma de Uco Grand Assemblage opens with pleasing aromas of dark fruit and spice plus touches of a meaty note and some herbal components. It’s a nice start.
The wine tastes smooth with lots of dark fruit and none of the green notes that we don’t particularly enjoy but can be common in Cabernet Franc. With similar flavors to the nose, this is a nice example of this blend which Argentina can do so well.
It ends dry and with good length and was just as good on day 2.
