Trader Joe’s Diamond Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford Napa Valley Lot 11 is an impressive wine with a notable pedigree. It comes to us from Rutherford, in the middle of California’s Napa Valley. Like the Diamond Reserve offerings that have come before it, this 2023 vintage is a best-in-class wine whose price belies its truly excellent quality. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes used to make this wine come from a highly-sought-after Rutherford vineyard—as part of the deal that allowed us to offer this wine at such a stellar price, we agreed not to reveal the source of these grapes—and the winemaking team is equally renowned. Here, they’ve produced a wine that opens with notes of dark berries, black currant, and deep plum, and leads to flavors ranging from berries and cocoa to woody spices like cedar and clove, with a touch of vanilla on the smooth, lingering finish. This is a wine to enjoy with bold, rich foods like braised meats, creamy Risotto, and hearty roasted vegetables. For cheese pairing, this wine is ideal alongside our English Cheddar with Champagne.
 
This Diamond Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is available in limited quantities, and as no two vintages of any wine are alike, when this one is gone, it won’t be coming back. If you’re an oenophile, we recommend buying extra bottles for cellaring. This one will only continue to improve with age!

The 2023 Trader Joe’s Diamond Reserve Rutherford Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Lot 11 is a bit shy on the nose at first but opens nicely to reveal a harmonious aroma of dark berry fruit, cedar and a little spice and tobacco.

The easy to drink wine tastes soft, smooth and juicy but still structured and features similar flavors to the nose. Just be sure to give it some time to breathe.

It ends dry, long and yes, even a bit dusty, and was even a tad bit better on day 2.
